DICT Secretary Campaigns for Use of EGov PH Superapp to Filipino Community in Hong Kong

HONG KONG, 15 April 2024 – The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong, organized a meeting for the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Ivan John E. Uy to meet with the Filipino Community (FilCom) leaders in Hong Kong last Sunday, 14 April 2024. Secretary Uy recently participated as one of the speakers in the ASEAN Smart City Development Roundtable (Government-to-Government dialogue) at InnoEx 2024. The InnoEx 2024 is jointly organized by the Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau of the Hong Kong Government, and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council from 13 to 16 April 2024 held at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
DICT Secretary Uy highlighted President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s vision of a digitally transformed Philippines along with the latter’s directive for government offices to fully embrace digitalization to provide better service to the people, through its vital frontline services and its back-end functions.
DICT Secretary Uy discussed the Philippine government’s efforts to advance digitalization in the country and presented the functionalities of the eGov PH Super App, a one-stop-shop platform that integrates various government services into a single application with an aim to enhance public service delivery and curb corruption. Both available on Google Play and Apple App store. The eGov PH Super App allows users to transact with government agencies, pay bills, and access essential information about government programs and services online. The services available on the eGov PH Super App are eGovpay, digital National ID, eVerify, eTravel, eTourism, eVisa, eReport, eNGA, eLGU, eJobs, eNews. Startup Development Program, eHealth, and Green Lanes.
Philippine Consul General to Hong Kong Germinia V. Aguilar-Usudan, in her closing remarks, expressed her appreciation to Secretary Uy for providing updates on the ongoing digital transformation journey of the Philippines to enhance accessibility and efficiency in delivering public services to the people. She also stressed the importance of the Philippines’ initiative in taking advantage of technological advancements to boost the Philippine economy and the country’s global digital competitiveness.
According to the Tholons Global Innovation Sustainability Index 2023 report, the Philippines ranked 15th among the Top 50 Global Digital Nations as one of the new leaders that have built a strong digital foundation for growth. END
