03 July 2014 - The Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen is proud to report that the Cobra Philippine Dragon Boat Federation (PDBF) Team placed 2nd overall in the recently concluded 1st International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF) World Cup from June 11 to 12 in Fuzhou, China.
The 28-member Philippine Team took the gold in the 100 and 500-meter sprint mixed standard boat events, the silver medal in the 200-meter sprint mixed standard boat event, and the bronze in the 400-meter relay event.
The two events in which the Philippines harvested gold medals coincided with the 116th anniversary of Philippine Independence, making June 12 truly a proud day for all Filipinos.
Philippine Consul General in Xiamen Julius Caesar A. Flores, accompanied by Consulate General officers, personally attended the last day of competitions and closing program to extend support to the team.
The 1st Dragon Boat World Cup was participated in by 11 other teams from Russia, the United Kingdom, the US, Australia, Canada, Germany, Guam, Hong Kong, Czech Republic, Italy, and host China. China garnered the most points to be awarded overall champion.
