VIENNA 02 May 2024 – A Filipina entrepreneur won a round-trip ticket to Manila in a lively awarding ceremony at a reception jointly co-hosted by the Philippine Embassy in Austria, the Austrian Federal Ministry of Labor and Economy (BMAW), the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKÖ), and the Austrian Business Agency (ABA) on 23 April 2024 at the Marble Hall of the BMAW to officially launch the Philippines-Austria Friendship Week in Austria.

Ms. Kathlyn Camille Fedelino won the round-trip ticket for her video entry to the #servuskaibigan social media challenge launched by the ABA in March 2024 for Filipinos living in Austria. The main goal of the social media challenge was to rally the Filipino diaspora in Austria to help raise awareness of Austria as an ideal work destination for professional and skilled Filipino workers. Ms. Janelie de Chavez also won a prize for her photo entry.

In her remarks, Philippine Ambassador to Austria Evangelina Bernas lauded the two (2) signed labor cooperation agreements with Austria in 2023 as “models that all other European countries are looking at for cooperation with the Philippines in terms of labor” and described the Embassy’s tireless efforts to work with all stakeholders “in the advancement of an ethical, sustainable, and transparent recruitment framework for our overseas Filipino workers.”

Philippines-Austria Friendship Week is a Department of Migrant Workers (DMW)-led initiative to celebrate the revitalized labor partnership between both countries. The commemorative activities in Manila will take place on 15-17 May 2024 and will culminate with a job fair focused on recruitment for Austria. END.
