Filipino Food Festival Celebrated in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD 03 May 2024 – In celebration of the 2024 Filipino Food Month, the Philippine Embassy in Islamabad, led by Philippine Ambassador to Pakistan Maria Agnes M. Cervantes, organized a Filipino Food Festival at the Domingo Lucenario Hall of the Embassy Chancery on 28 April 2024.
The activity was attended by 50 members of the Filipino Community in Pakistan, 15 cadets from the Pakistan Foreign Service Academy, four Asian Study Group members, and five Ministry of Foreign Affairs Junior Officers. The Embassy provided an introduction on Filipino food and the factors that influenced how it evolved in the millennia from pre-colonial to the present day. Embassy personnel then gave the guests a background of the sampler Filipino dishes provided for the foreign visitors and attendees.
Dishes served include adobong manok, beef tapa, chicken afritada, and chicken siomai. Also available at the festival for sale as prepared by various FilCom groups are Filipino dishes such as leche flan, pansit palabok, empanada, valenciana, and various baked/bread items. END
