PH Consulate General in Manado Celebrates Filipino Food Month

MANADO 06 May 2024 – The Philippine Consulate General in Manado celebrated the Filipino Food Month (FFM) or Buwan ng Kalutong Pilipino with the theme, "Kalutong Filipino, Lakas ng Kabataang Makabago" on 30 April 2024 by visiting Filipino-owned establishments in Manado and conducting Filipino food cooking demonstrations.

The Consulate visited Bread Factory, a Filipino-owned bakery in Manado where Consulate personnel were taught to prepare and bake the ensaymada from scratch.  

The Consulate also went on a food trip in Porky’s, a famous Filipino-owned restaurant in Manado specializing in pork dishes such as, lechon, crispy ulo, crispy pata, pork sisig, and lumpaing shanghai.

For its third activity, the Consulate conducted a cooking demonstration in partnership with Ibis Manado City Center Boulevard where Indonesian Manado-based chef Mr. Dekson Tonggengbio cooked Filipino favorites Beef Kare-Kare and Fish Sinigang. 

Capping its month-long celebration, the Consulate’s very own Property Officer Ms. Nena “Jing” Enano, showed-off her cooking skills by preparing the Filipino all-time favorite, Adobo, much to the delight of her colleagues! END
