Philippine Embassy in Mexico Hosts Filipino Food Bazaar 2024

Ambassador Lilybeth R. Deapera delivered her welcome remarks during the Filipino Food Bazaar hosted by the Philippine Embassy in Mexico on 21 April 2024 held at the Embassy grounds.

 

MÉXICO CITY 07 May 2024– The flavors of the Philippines took center stage at the Philippine Embassy in Mexico City during the much-anticipated Filipino Food Bazaar 2024 held on 21 April, in celebration of the Filipino Food Month.

Ambassador Lilybeth R. Deapera extended a warm welcome to guests as she delivered her opening address.

The event aimed to showcase the rich culinary heritage of the Philippines, featuring a diverse array of traditional Filipino dishes and delicacies. It attracted a significant turnout with attendees comprising both Filipinos and individuals from various cultural backgrounds eager to explore the Filipino cuisine. The bazaar offered a rich selection of Filipino dishes, including pork and chicken adobo, dinakdakan, kare-kare, sweet and sour fish (escabeche), adobong liver with gizzard and egg, chicken and pork barbeque, homemade longganisa and tocino. Each dish was prepared authentically, highlighting the distinct flavors and ingredients of Filipino cooking.

Snacks were also served such as fresh lumpia, pichi-pichi, puto flan, mango float, pancit bihon, lumpiang gulay with chicken, dynamite, kutchinta, puto, carioka, turon, lumpiang gulay, cassava cake and halu-halo. Also, not to be missed were Filipino refreshing drinks like melon juice, sago at gulaman, and buko juice

Ice candy, chili garlic sauce, bagoong alamang and achara were sold as well

The success of this year's bazaar was due to the members of the Filipino community who answered the Embassy’s call to help promote Filipino cuisine.  They were Ms. Carolina Jefferson, Ms. Mera Fe Megrinio Banate, Ms. Al Owaidah Abao, Ms. Prescila Joy Baritugo, Ms. Alemae Lastra, Ms. Aeiss, Ms. Odelyn Dela Cruz, Mr. Von Randolph Roda, Mr. Joeffrey Viernes, and Mr. Ryan Valbuena. 

Alongside the gastronomic experience, cultural performances such as traditional dances added vibrancy to the event, providing attendees with an immersing cultural experience, binasuan and tinikling performed by Ms. Opalyn Dela Cruz, Mr. Joeffrey Espiritu Viernes, Ms. Ariadnne Zoe A. Abuloc, and Mr. Ryan Valbuena.

The event fostered community engagement, providing an opportunity for attendees to connect with members of the Filipino community and learn more about Filipino culture and traditions.

As the curtains close on the successful Filipino Food Bazaar 2024, the Philippine Embassy looks forward to future initiatives that continue to celebrate the rich tapestry of Philippine culture and cuisine on the global stage. END
