PH Health Secretary Discuss Ethical Issues in Using AI in Medicine at Inaugural Abu Dhabi Global Healthcare Week

ABU DHABI 16 May 2024 – Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Dr. Teodoro Javier Herbosa, accompanied by Philippine Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Alfonso Ver, attended the opening of the inaugural Abu Dhabi Global Healthcare Week (ADGHW), held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC) on 13 May 2024.
Secretary Dr. Teodoro Javier Herbosa was invited to be a panelist in the event, “Human UX: Maintaining Humanity in an Era of AI-Enabled and Digital Healthcare,” where he discussed the ethical issues in the implementation of AI in the field of medicine. He stressed the importance of experience and expertise in the practice of medicine and underscored the caution needed in the use of “augmented intelligence”, while acknowledging that, indeed, digitization in healthcare is already present.
Abu Dhabi Global Healthcare Week, bringing together attendees, exhibitors, expert speakers, and conference delegates, is aimed at becoming the leading platform for fostering collaboration, cooperation, technical advancement, and sustainability, as emphasis is placed on the transition from care to prevention.
