Philippine Embassy, Kulinarya Jordan Organize Filipino Food Bazaar Showcasing the Best of Filipino Cuisine
AMMAN 21 May 2024 - In celebration of the Filipino Food Month and the National Heritage Month, the Philippine Embassy in Jordan led by His Excellency Ambassador Wilfredo C. Santos, in partnership with Kulinarya Jordan, organized a Filipino Food Bazaar on May 17, 2024, at the Philippine Embassy grounds.
Now in its second year, the event aims to showcase the diverse culinary heritage of the Philippines to the Jordanian and diplomatic community. The Filipino Food Bazaar provided a space for the Filipino and diplomatic communities to come together for a culinary exploration and cultural celebration. Traditional dishes like adobo, kare-kare, and pansit, as well as desserts such as ube macapuno, leche flan, and yema cake, among others, were featured at the bazaar.
The event gathered around 350 guests including members of the diplomatic corps in Amman, the Filipino community, and their families. It was a celebration of heritage, diversity, and the universal language of food, which brought people together in a spirit of unity and camaraderie, further strengthening the bonds of friendship and understanding between the Filipino and Jordanian communities.
The Embassy established Kulinarya Jordan in 2023 to support Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who are in the food and catering business in Jordan. Sixteen (16) Kulinarya partners from the Filipino community took part in this year’s event. By highlighting the rich flavors and traditions of Filipino cuisine, Kulinarya Jordan serves as a bridge connecting people from different backgrounds and fostering mutual understanding and appreciation. Additionally, Kulinarya Jordan is used as a platform to promote the Philippines as a tourist and investment destination, representing a unique form of cultural diplomacy. END
