Sagala sa Embahada 2024 Engaged Filipinos and Pakistani Partners to the Flores de Mayo Heritage

ISLAMABAD 23 May 2024 – The Philippine Embassy in Islamabad organized the Sagala sa Embahada 2024 at the Philippine Embassy Chancery on 19 May 2024. About 160 Filipinos, Pakistani spouses, and Filipino-Pakistan children attended the activity.

During her remarks, Philippine Ambassador to Pakistan Maria Agnes M. Cervantes thanked the Filipino Community for always coming prepared whenever the Embassy organize activities involving them. She then added that the Filipino community in Pakistan were the culture-bearers of Philippine identity and traditions in Pakistan and them being engaged in performing that role was a showcase of Philippine thriving culture and traditions even in distant countries like Pakistan. 

A procession or sagala with Reynas representing all Filipino Community groups in Pakistan was done at the Embassy tennis court as part of the program. Ms. Yvette Alejandro, spouse of Police Attache PCol. Eddie Alejandro, was the master of ceremonies for the duration of the program. 

Various Filipino Community groups prepared cultural dances such as the Alitaptap and Singkil and Filipino food and delicacies were served and sold during the activity. Filipino foods such as adobo, pansit, macaroni salad, maja blanca, sinangag, and ginisang munggo were served during the event while siopao, leche flan, hopia, binangkal, alembong, varous canned goods, bagoong, fishball, fruits, garments and other Filipino cooking condiments and ingredients were sold by the Filipino Community groups during the activity.
