Philippine Madrigal Singers Violinist Enchants Audience at San Antonio de los Alemanes Church in Madrid

MADRID 28 May 2024 – In commemoration of the Philippine Heritage and Culture and as part of the celebration of the Philippine-Spanish Friendship Day, the Philippine Embassy in Spain, in collaboration with the internationally-acclaimed Philippine Madrigal Singers, successfully celebrated Violin and Vocals Concert by Mr. Joseph Brian "Bry" Cimafranca on 26 May 2024 with an astounding ovation from the Filipino and international audience.
The venue, Iglesia de San Antonio de los Alemanes located at the heart of Madrid, served as the most apt and suitable background as a concert venue with its vivid painting frescos adorning the entire dome. Bry Cimafranca, who absolutely embodies a great combination of violinist prowess and powerful musical voice, presented a wide repertoire of classical musical pieces and traditional love songs.
The concert indeed left an indelible mark among the viewers of the musical talent that this performer has, which has quite pulled up the Filipinos' standing in the eyes of the audience who have just witnessed a magical blending of strings and vocal talent that is truly exquisite, as it relives the magnificent trademark of the Philippine Madrigal Singers in the world stage.
In the latter part of the concert, he was joined by opera singer Alexa Isobel Kaufman, a young Filipina with such a beautiful nightingale voice, during a surprise number. In turn, Bry Cimafranca gave thanks and offered the most memorable song dedicated to His Excellency, Ambassador Philippe J. Lhuillier and Madame Edna J. Lhuillier.
Other songs performed by Bry Cimafranca during the concert include: Meditation by Julles Massent, Czardas by Vittorio Monti, Por Una Cabeza by Carlos Gardel, Storm by Antonio Vivaldi, and classical Filipino love songs such as Basta´t Kasama Kita, Di na Natuto, Kailangan Kita, and a grand rendition of “This is the Moment” by Frank Wildhorn and Leslie Bricusse.
Bry Cimafranca is one of the new rising virtuoso violinists in the Philippines. He started violin lessons under scholarship from the Cebu Youth Symphony Orchestra Development Program and has been a consistent awardee in the solo violin category and was appointed concert master of the Youth Orchestra and Wind Ensemble of Southeast Asia from 2005 to 2008.
