DFA Repatriates Filipina Stroke Survivor from Yakutsk, Russia

MOSCOW 28 May 2024 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) through the Philippine Embassy in Moscow, Russian Federation, facilitated the repatriation of a 49-year-old Filipina who suffered a stroke and was hospitalized for almost a month. The overseas Filipino worked in Yakutsk, Russian Federation, which is the coldest major city in the world.

All expenses related to her repatriation from Yakutsk to Manila, including airfare, medical escort, and all documents and clearances, were arranged by the Philippine Embassy in Moscow and funded through the ATN Fund. The Philippine Embassy in Moscow coordinated with the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) in Berlin, Germany for the domestic transfer of the Filipina from Manila to her province in Mindanao.

The overseas worker arrived in the Philippines on 27 May 2024. END
