BEIRUT 06 June 2024 – The Philippine Embassy safely sent home a Filipina mother and her three children on Saturday, 01 June 2024.

The mother arrived in Lebanon in 2010 as an overseas Filipino worker and eventually married her Lebanese spouse in 2012. Problems in their marriage began to appear when her husband lost his job during the pandemic, and after repeatedly suffering from physical abuse and receiving grave threats to her life, she eventually sought the Embassy’s assistance in facilitating their repatriation. The family arrived in the Philippines the following day, Sunday, 2 June 2024.

The series of repatriations of Filipino nationals in Lebanon are being facilitated by the Philippine Embassy’s Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) Section, the Migrant Workers Office (MWO), and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA). Currently, there are a total of 273 distressed Filipino nationals repatriated since the Philippine government raised Alert Level 3 in Lebanon in 2023. The Embassy continues to monitor the situation across Lebanon and provides updated safety measures and advisories to Filipino nationals. The voluntary repatriation program remains open to Filipino nationals who wish to return to the Philippines and interested parties may access the repatriation program through the link https://tinyurl.com/2024Repatriation.
