DFA Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs, Deputy Foreign Minister of Türkiye Discuss Areas of Mutual Interest, 75th Anniversary of Philippine-Turkish Diplomatic Relations

ANKARA 25 June 2024—Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs Eduardo José A. de Vega paid a courtesy visit to Deputy Foreign Minister Yasin Ekrem Serim of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 13 June 2024. He was accompanied by Ambassador to the Republic of Türkiye Henry S. Bensurto, Jr., Minister and Consul General Juan E. Dayang, Jr., and Acting Director Lemuel Lopez of the Office of Migrant Workers Affairs-Department of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, Undersecretary de Vega thanked the Turkish government for hosting over 6,000 Filipinos in Türkiye. The two sides exchanged views and opinions on migration, consular, economic/trade, geopolitics, and evacuation plans in case of emergency.

Ambassador Bensurto also shared with the Deputy Foreign Minister the work done by the Embassy to commemorate the 75th Philippine-Turkish Diplomatic Relations and the launching of the Philippine-Turkish Day in Ankara on 16 June 2024. END
