PH Embassy Joins Delegation to 6th Global Conference of Women Parliamentarians on Peace and Security
DOHA 04 July 2024 — Philippine Ambassador to Qatar Lillibeth V. Pono and Third Secretary and Vice Consul Monica Remsy Calangian joined the Philippine delegation led by Honorable Congressperson Ysabel Maria J. Zamora and Committee Secretary on Women and Gender Equality, Ms. Joy Elena C. Piccio in attending the 6th Global Conference of Women Parliamentarians held from 26 to 27 June 2024, in Doha.
Organized by Qatar’s Shura Council, the UN Office of Counterterrorism (UNOCT) and the Qatar-based UN Program Office on Parliamentary Engagement in Preventing and Countering Terrorism, the two-day conference involved women parliamentarians from several nations in exchanging experiences and best practices in formulating and implementing policies on security and counterterrorism.
Congressperson Zamora was also invited in a separate meeting with the Deputy Speaker Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti where the role of women in legislation was further discussed, including the policies that protect women from all forms of violence and extremism. END
