CANBERRA, 04 July 2024 – Philippine Ambassador to Australia Ma. Hellen De La Vega met the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade of the Australian Parliament on 03 July 2024 to discuss developments in the bilateral relations of the Philippines and Australia.
The two countries announced the elevation of relations to a Strategic Partnership in September 2023 during the visit of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to Manila. In February 2024, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr delivered an address to Parliament in Canberra as Guest of Government. It was the first time that a president of the Philippines addressed the Australian Parliament. END
