08 July 2014 – The Philippine Consulate General in Guangzhou attended the Philippine Airline’s Product Presentation Symposium led by the Officers and Managers of Philippine Airlines in Guangzhou, held at the Garden Hotel on June 25.
The symposium was attended by representatives of different travel agencies based in Guangzhou China. Ms. Vicky Lian Yuan Yi and Wesley Qu Hui of PAL Guangzhou presented the airline’s services and amenities, its flight routes from China to the Philippines, as well as its routes to top tourist destinations such as Kalibo, Cebu, Tagbilaran, Puerto Princesa, Legaspi and Boracay. They also introduced international destinations, with Manila serving as a convenient point of transit for onward flight connections from China.
After the product presentation, Philippine Consul Judy Barbara Robianes took the opportunity to update the travel agents on Philippine visa regulations and reminded them of the requirements needed for applying a Philippine Tourist Visa. Among the recent changes in visa policies for Chinese nationals are the reduced visa fees and the visa-free entry for mainland Chinese who hold valid visas to the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, and Schengen. She pointed out that the new visa-free policy would enable the Chinese to enjoy stress-free travel to the Philippines as they transit to Manila from China to their onward destinations, while allowing them seven days to enjoy the Philippines every time. These new policies are aimed at enticing more Chinese tourists to visit the Philippines and providing a time-saving advantage to business travelers. Consul Robianes cited the steady year-on-year rise in tourist and tour group visa issuances by the Philippine Consulate General in Guangzhou as proof that the Philippines remains a top tourist destination southern Chinese tourists.
PAL's relaunch of its Guangzhou to Manila service in July last year make it the third commercial airline to ply the route regularly.
The symposium ended with a PAL trivia game with the audience and a raffle draw where the winner received a round trip ticket to any destination of his choice in the Philippines. END
