Lasallian Youth Orchestra Bags Gold at 9th International Youth Music Festival II in Bratislava

BRATISLAVA 26 July 2024 – The Lasallian Youth Orchestra (LYO) from De La Salle University (DLSU) in Manila triumphed at the 9th International Youth Music Festival II on 24 July 2024 in Bratislava, Slovakia by scoring 92 points to win gold. They performed Josef Suk's "Serenade for Strings in E flat Major, Op. 6," Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, IV. Rondo (Allegro)," and a medley of Filipino compositions “Mga Awit ng Pag-ibig” by Constancio De Guzman, Leopoldo Silos, Ernani Cuenco, and Lucio San Pedro.
The festival featured ensembles from around the world, including participants from China, France, Hong Kong, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, Taiwan, and Ukraine.
The Philippine Embassy in Vienna, represented by Chargé d'Affaires, a.i. Zoilo Velasco, attended the festival and expressed support for the LYO, emphasizing the importance of music, arts, and the Filipino youth. END
