Philippine Robotics Team Wins Major Awards at 2024 First Lego League Asia Open Championship in Hong Kong

HONG KONG  08 August 2024 — The Philippine Robotics Team, comprised of students from Quezon City High School, Betty Go Belmonte Elementary School, Claret School of Quezon City and Batangas State University, finished strong with three major awards: Best Robot Design Award, Best Innovation Project Award and Best Team Model Award (Explore Category) at the 2024 First Lego League (FLL) Asia Open Championship held on 3 to 4 August 2024 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. 

The international competition integrates education, technology and creativity. More than 480 teams from 24 countries participated in the FLL competition under four key categories: Robot Game, Robot Design, Innovation Project and Core Values. During the competition, participants were encouraged to use their imagination and creativity to integrate art and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) elements, placing equal emphasis on learning and fun.

The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong warmly welcomed the Filipino students and coaches from Betty Go Belmonte Elementary School and Quezon City High School during a courtesy call on 2 August 2024, ahead of their victorious stint at the 2024 FLL Asia Open Championship.

During the courtesy call, Consul General Germinia V. Aguilar-Usudan expressed the Consulate’s full support to the talented students and offered them encouragement as they geared up for the competition. She likewise commended their families and mentors for shaping their careers and for encouraging the students to demonstrate excellence in STEM education in the country and abroad. END
