09 July 2014 – Ghent Mayor Daniël Termont attended the Philippine Independence Day celebrations in his city last June 29 in Zuidpark. 

 Addressing the crowd, Mayor Termont welcomed the Filipino community as an integral part of the city of Ghent and also expressed his condolences to those affected by Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda.

Officials from the Philippine Embassy in Brussels were also present and thanked the Organizing Committee headed by Mr. Edward Lladoc of Slag Arnis Gent.  

The event featured displays of Filipino cuisine, dances, and martial arts. END
