Filipino Football Teams Made Impressive Runs at Norway Cup 2024

OSLO 12 August 2024 – The three junior football teams from the Leyte Association of Organized Sports FC (LAOSFC) made impressive runs when they reached the round of 16 (Boys U19), quarterfinals (Boys U16) and semifinals (Girls U16) against the physically bigger and more experienced teams at the Norway Cup 2024.

Participating in this Norway´s Cup is LAOS FC´s commitment to its grassroots football training for the Filipino youth, with several of their players from the grassroots level supported by the team´s sponsors.

Filipino community leaders and members had a chance to wish the young footballer players success in their games during the meet and greet event organized by Post on 26 July 2024 at the Holtet Videregående Skole in Ekeberg, Oslo.

Called the “bright spots” by Ambassador Enrico T. Fos, LAOS FC teams expressed their desire to participate at next year's edition of the Norway Cup.

Members of the Filipino community came in droves to watch the games of LAOSFC at the different venues in Oslo. Displaying the Bayanihan spirit, they brought potluck meals, drinks and other items for the young players.

The Norway Cup, considered the world's largest football tournament for children and youth, started in 1972 with 420 teams. This year, 2,250 teams from different countries participated in the tournament. END
