BEIRUT 20 August 2024 – The Philippine Embassy in Lebanon, in partnership with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA)-Lebanon, successfully conducted a one-stop-shop outreach program aimed at providing essential welfare programs and consular services to Filipino nationals across Lebanon on 18 August 2024 in Dora, Lebanon. This initiative is part of the Embassy’s ongoing efforts at updating its contingency plan to reach more Filipino nationals who are unable to visit the Embassy in Beirut due to various constraints.

Given the continued instability in Lebanon, the Embassy emphasized the critical importance of preparedness in the event of emergencies. One key aspect of this preparedness is ensuring that all Filipino nationals hold a valid passport and necessary travel documents such as iqama (residence permit), which are essential for a swift and organized evacuation.

The one-stop-shop services during the outreach activity included the processing of passport renewals, applications for lost passports, civil registrations, overseas voting registration, and OWWA membership renewals. More than 200 OFWs who availed of these services expressed appreciation to the Embassy and OWWA for bringing the much- needed frontline services near their residences and during their rest days. These services were made accessible in areas where many Filipino nationals reside as well as remote and hard-to-reach areas, ensuring that they have the necessary documentation and are registered to participate in national elections.

The Embassy is committed to continue delivering these vital services to Filipino nationals across Lebanon. The safety and well-being of our nationals remain our top priority. We urge all Filipino nationals to be vigilant, maintain their preparedness, and consider leaving Lebanon due to the unstable security situation. The Embassy will continue to extend its services and support, especially to those in remote areas.

The Philippine Embassy, MWO-Lebanon, and OWWA-Lebanon continue to monitor the situation closely and stand ready to assist Filipino nationals as needed. Further outreach activities are planned in the coming weeks to ensure that all Filipinos in Lebanon are prepared for any emergency situation. Upcoming schedules of outreach activities will be posted through the Embassy’s official social media accounts and website. END
