HONOLULU 18 September 2024 – The Social Security System (SSS) concluded a highly productive information campaign in Honolulu from 13 to 16 September 2024 with the support of the Philippine Consulate General. The SSS Coverage and Pension Booster Information Campaign aimed to promote and introduce the MySSS Pension Booster program to members of the Filipino-American community.
The SSS delegation, led by Vice President Ms. Joy Villacorta, included Senior Vice President Ms. Maria Belinda San Jose, SSS Representative in Los Angeles Ms. Anna Lee De Leon, and Philippine National Bank Senior Vice President Ms. Editha Manalad.
On 13 September, the SSS team presented their programs to approximately 40 members of the Filipino community at the Consulate, sparking an engaging question-and-answer session. Attendees raised various concerns, including the impact of US civil laws, such as same-sex marriage and divorce, on SSS benefits and entitlements for Filipino-American citizens.
In line with the consulate’s efforts to further engage the broader Filipino-American community, the Consulate arranged for the SSS delegation to have the opportunity to promote SSS’ programs at the annual Filipiniana Ball of the Philippine Women’s Association in Hawaii (PWAH), further extending the reach of the campaign.
The information drive continued on 16 September at the consular section, where the SSS team interacted with the Consulate’s clients. Additionally, radio host Mr. Allan Alvarez of KNDI 1270 AM interviewed SSS Representative De Leon for The Fil-am Community Hour, which helped ensure that information on the SSS programs reached a wider audience in Honolulu.
The Consulate remains committed to supporting programs that empower Filipinos abroad and providing them with access to important services such as the SSS.
