PH, Cambodia Seek Stronger Cooperation to Combat Transnational Crimes

PHNOM PENH 18 SEPTEMBER 2024 – Philippine Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Flerida Ann Camille P. Mayo paid on a courtesy call on Commissioner General of the Cambodian National Police (CNP) Police General Sar Thet, at the latter’s headquarters on 12 September 2024 to reaffirm the PH resolve in addressing transnational crimes, including cybercrimes and trafficking in persons.
While noting the contributions of Filipino professionals and PH businesses to Cambodia’s economic development, Ambassador Mayo thanked the CNP for its continuing assistance in the rescue of Filipinos trapped in online scamming operations. Commissioner General Sar Thet extended assurances of the CNP’s commitment to maintaining peace and order as well as taking care of foreign guests in Cambodia.
Both sides acknowledged the importance of closer cooperation and the sharing of information between law enforcement authorities under the existing Memorandum of Understanding on Combating Transnational Crime which the PH and Cambodia signed in 2016. END
