Philippine Ambassador Presents Credentials to Dominican Republic President

SANTO DOMINGO 19 September 2024 – Philippine Ambassador Lilybeth R. Deapera presented her credentials to Dominican Republic President Luis Abinader in a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace on 11 September 2024.
Along with President Abinader, Vice President Raquel Peña and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Álvarez, were also present at the ceremony to receive the credentials of the Ambassador.
After the presentation of credentials, President Abinader held a brief conversation with the ambassador who congratulated the President for his second mandate and conveyed the best wishes of President Marcos.
President Abinader and Ambassador Deapera both expressed interest in promoting trade and investment with the Philippines.
The Ambassadors of Peru, France, Nicaragua, Denmark, Australia and Finland also presented their credentials on the same day.
At the sidelines of the Presentation of Credentials, Ambassador Deapera held meetings with the various Ministries of the Executive Branch, namely the Ministry of External Relations; Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development; and Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.
Diplomatic relations with the Dominican Republic were formally established on 02 November 2024 upon the signing of the Treaty of Friendship between the two countries.
In 2023, the Dominican Republic is the Philippines´ 74th trading partner. END
