PH Embassy Lisbon Commemorates  Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MANA Mo) with #Eubeachcleanup International Coastal Clean-Up Day in Algarve

 

LISBON 30 September 2024 ⏤ As the Philippines celebrates Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MANA Mo) in September with the theme, “Pamana ng Karagatan: Para sa Kinabukasan, Ating Ingatan,” Philippine Ambassador to Portugal, Paul Raymund P. Cortes, participated at the #EUBeachCleanup International Coastal Clean-up Day on 21 September 2024 at the Praia dos Pescadores, Armação de Pera, located in the region of Algarve, south of Portugal.  

The event, organized by the Silves City Council, is part of a wider initiative of clean up actions taking place between 21 to 23 September, bringing together different organizations throughout Portugal with the objective of uniting locals, NGOs, and  international organizations, towards greater ocean action.

Silves Mayor Dra. Rosa Palma expressed her appreciation to all  volunteers, including the EU, Belgian, Australian, Bulgarian Ambassadors to Portugal, for their active participation. She emphasized the important role of collective action in safeguarding and preserving marine ecosystems.

The Ambassador´s participation underscores the Philippines’ strongest commitment to protecting oceans and marine life, aligning with the country's dedication to international environmental efforts at preserving marine ecosystems for future generations. END
