VANCOUVER 02 October 2024 – PH Consulate General in Vancouver mounted an art activity in cooperation with the Museum of Surrey and Canada-based Filipino artist Charlie Frenal on 21 September 2024, in celebration of the 2024 Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month.
The art activity centered around the theme of preserving maritime treasures. Artist Charlie Frenal created blank templates depicting marine life and underwater scenery. Participants were then provided materials to complete these templates through the collage method, made the activity inclusive and fun for children and parents.
Participants also had the opportunity to see three of Charlie’s works depicting rural shoreline scenes against the backdrop of the sun rising over the horizon.
Consul Analyn Ratonel graced the activity and expressed the Consulate’s appreciation for Charlie's continued work in supporting Filipino art and artists in Canada, as well as his contributions to enhancing awareness of the Philippines as a maritime nation among his audience.
The Philippines celebrates the Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness month every September in accordance with Proclamation No. 316, s. 2017.
