Philippines Presides Over 68th International Atomic Energy Agency General Conference

VIENNA 08 October 2024 – Philippine Ambassador and Permanent Representative Evangelina A. Bernas presided over the 68th Regular Session of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) General Conference (GC) held in Vienna last 16-20 September 2024. The GC is an annual gathering of representatives of the 178 IAEA Member States to consider and approve IAEA's budget and to decide on key issues that will steer the Agency’s direction and work in promoting the peaceful uses of atomic energy for the succeeding year.
The Philippines was elected as the Vice President and member of the General Committee representing the Far East Group region of countries. Ambassador Bernas facilitated the work of the General Debate and actively participated in the approval of the agenda of the GC as well as the examination of credentials of attendees. END
