Philippines Champions Nuclear Science Education Efforts on Behalf of 22 Asia-Pacific Countries

Outgoing chair of the Asian Network for Education in Nuclear Technology (ANENT) Ms. Ana Elena Conjares, giving an overview and history of the network during the technical meeting on educations on 21 October 2024

VIENNA 29 October 2024  – The Philippines represented the Asian Network for Education in Nuclear Technology (ANENT) during the Technical Meeting on Education Networks from 21-25 October 2024, delivered updates on cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region in nuclear science education. ANENT‘s online learning management system provides 86 courses to various educators in the Asia-Pacific, with an average of 2,530 weekly users as of August 2024

Ms. Ana Elena Conjares, Chief Science Research Specialist from the Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (PNRI), cited ANENT’s significant gains in the use of its portal and learning management system (LMS) for capacity building, human resource development, and nuclear knowledge management. Its advanced Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) have allowed for better collaboration between projects and in disseminating e-learning materials for both secondary and tertiary students and teachers.

ANENT is a regional partnership supported by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for cooperation in capacity building, human resource development, and knowledge management in nuclear science and technology. END
