Brunei Sends Aid to Philippines Following Typhoon Kristine

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN 29 October 2024 — Brunei Darussalam mobilized its Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) to deliver crucial logistical aid to the Philippines after the devastation caused by Typhoon Kristine (Trami). The operation began on 27 October 2024, with a departure ceremony attended by Brunei’s Second Minister of Defence, Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, alongside officials from the Philippine Embassy in Brunei.

The RBAF is deploying personnel and multiple air assets from the Royal Brunei Airforce (RBAirF) to expedite relief efforts and ensure that vital support reaches impacted communities.

Brunei has previously supported the Philippines in the aftermath of destructive typhoons, including Typhoon Yolanda in 2013 and Typhoon Odette in 2021. During these crises, Brunei was among the countries that contributed significant financial aid to support disaster relief and recovery efforts. END
