70th Anniversary of PH-Finland Relations Commemorative Logo Design Contest Winners
STOCKHOLM 08 November 2024 – In June 2024, the Philippine Embassy in Stockholm, Sweden (which is accredited to the Republic of Finland) launched the logo commemorative design contest in connection with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Philippine bilateral relations with Finland in July 2025.
After four (4) months considering the entries, the Board of Judges, led by Ambassador Maria Lumen B. Isleta, awarded the prizes to the winners on 21 October 2024 (Monday), at the Scandic Simonkenttä Hotel, in Helsinki, Finland.
Adjudged First prize winner was Mr. Samuel Cadangan, whose entry showcases the vibrant relationship and growing bilateral ties between Philippines and Finland. Showcasing two hands in a clasping manner, with each hand representing the two countries conveys the friendly relationship and desire for forging stronger bonds between the two countries.
The 2nd prize winner, Ms. Rinalene Joy Duran, emphasized the unity and mutual respect of both countries through her logo. The number 70, which reflects the flags of countries, is a graphical reference to the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Finland.
Ms. Mikaelah Bianca Panopio, the third prize winner, created a logo that combined the emblem of the Philippine and Finnish flags, with colors picking up from the colors of both flags. The design is presented so as to embody the friendship and collaboration shared by two countries over the past seven decades.
The logo design contest, which drew more than forty (40) entries, was made possible through the support of the Office of Cultural Diplomacy of the Department of Foreign Affairs as well as members of the FilCom in Finland and Sweden, among others, Honorary Consul Maria Kauppinen and former Honorary Consul Teresita Ruutu, who served as judges.
