PH Consulate General Lauds Filipino Artists Participating at Dream of Ocean Exhibit in Xiamen

XIAMEN 08 November 2024 – Philippine Consul General to Xiamen Maria Antonina M. Mendoza-Oblena attended the Opening Ceremony of the “Dream of Ocean – Sunrise on the Sea” international contemporary art exhibition at the Nordic Contemporary Art Center in Xiamen on 02 November 2024, and expressed appreciation and admiration to the two Filipino artists, based in Xiamen, who joined the said Exhibit.
Messrs. Bong Antivola and Allan Vibar collaborated on a work called “The Turtle, the Dolphin, and the Pearl”. Mr. Antivola exhibited “The Tentacles” and “Coastline of Humanity,” while Mr. Vibar featured “The Tree of Life.”
Nearly 40 artists from Armenia, Australia, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Sweden, Thailand, and the Philippines produced pieces that centered on marine life and the marine environment.
The Opening also featured a Cultural Exchange Forum in which the artists spoke about the inspiration and stories behind their works. Guests present also shared their insights about the artworks on display.
The exhibition is being held as a supporting event of the 2024 East Asian Seas (EAS) Congress, to be held from 06 to 08 November, and the World Ocean Week (WOW) in Xiamen. END
