PH Ambassador Presents Credentials to Romanian President
Philippine Ambassador to Romania Noel Eugene Eusebio M. Servigon formally presented his Letters of Credence to President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis.
BUCHAREST 28 November 2024 - Philippine Ambassador to Romania Noel Eugene Eusebio M. Servigon formally presented his Letters of Credence to President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, at the Cotreceni Palace, Bucharest on 26 November 2024.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Servigon conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to President Iohannis and the Romanian people.
In the tête-à-tête that immediately followed the ceremony, Ambassador Servigon expressed that the reopening of the Philippine Embassy in Romania represents the renewed commitment of the Philippines to enhancing its bilateral relations with Romania. He also congratulated President Iohannis for his ten-year tenure as President and wished him well in his future endeavors.
In response, President Iohannis expressed his appreciation for the opening of the Philippine Embassy in Romania. He added that the reopening of the Philippine Embassy in Romania heralds a new era of closer cooperation and friendship between the two countries.
President Iohannis will be ending his second term as head of state of Romania in December 2024. Ambassador Servigon is one of the last ambassadors extraordinary and plenipotentiary to present their credentials to President Iohannis.
The Republic of the Philippines and Romania established diplomatic relations on 29 February 1972. The Philippine Embassy was opened in March 1975, but was closed in October 2012 after 35 years of operations.
On 23 August 2024, the Embassy Landing Team arrived in Bucharest to commence preparations for the reopening of the Embassy. There are approximately 4,900 Filipinos residing and working in Romania. END
