PH Embassy Brings Home Distressed Filipino-American Tourist in Jordan

AMMAN 03 December 2024 – The Philippine Embassy in Amman assisted a 73-year-old Filipino-American (FilAm) tourist on her outbound flight to the Philippines on 26 November 2024 after recovering from minor surgeries on her left shoulder and lower right rib sustained during an accident while visiting the Petra Archaeological Site over a month ago.

The FilAm tourist entered Jordan on 3 October 2024 on a group tour from Naga City for a pilgrimage in Jordan, Israel, and Egypt. The Embassy fully attended to her medical emergency that occurred on 5 November 2024 and provided her with appropriate welfare and humanitarian assistance, including temporary accommodation in coordination with the Migrant Workers Office-Jordan (MWO-Jordan) until such time she has fully recovered and is medically-cleared to travel to the Philippines. 

The FilAm tourist expressed her sincerest appreciation to Ambassador Wilfredo C. Santos, the Assistance-to-Nationals Section of the Embassy, and the MWO-Jordan, for assisting of her while she was in Jordan. Furthermore, she expressed looking forward to be with her family for the holiday season. Ambassador Santos assured the FilAm tourist of the Philippine Embassy’s dedicated service and assistance to all Filipinos in need, highlighting that she will always be a Filipino. END
