Philippine Universities Participate in Training Programs at University of Lisbon
LISBON 06 December 2024 – The Philippine Embassy welcomed officials from the University of the Philippines and Batangas State University during the Opening Ceremony of the training program on 25 November 2024 at the University of Lisbon-Instituto Superior Técnico.
Dubbed as UNICATION: Unify Communication by International Projects in Cambodia and the Philippines, it is part of a two-year project that aims to provide training to university officials on project management, intercultural communication, and mentoring. Funded by Erasmus+, the project is coordinated by Instituto Superior Técnico, with European partners including the University of Côte d’Azur and Obuda University.
Philippine and Cambodian participants underwent training modules on practical approaches to inclusivity and global cooperation, new approaches and tools in international project management, improving communication skills for project managers, discussions on the participants’ respective national multiplier trainings, among others, during the week-long training.
During the Opening Ceremony, the Philippine Embassy had the opportunity to engage with the Philippine university officials to express support for the project and discuss possible future collaborations. Philippine Ambassador Paul Raymund P. Cortes emphasized that initiatives like UNICATION not only strengthen the partnership between the Philippines and Portugal but also highlight their shared commitment to education, inclusivity, and international cooperation.
The UNICATION project is part of a broader initiative to foster international cooperation and knowledge-sharing. Its focus on inclusive training and capacity-building is relevant to Philippine university officials, particularly in strengthening their skills in international project management where there is a significant need for development.
The officials from the participating universities are expected to hold conferences or national multiplier trainings in their respective campuses next year. END
