BEIRUT 23 December 2024 – As Crisis Alert Level 3 remains in place, the Philippine Embassy in Lebanon continuously accepts and processes applications for its voluntary repatriation program. Under the current alert level, the processing of Balik-Manggagawa applications and the return of contract workers to Lebanon are temporarily suspended.
Lebanon is more than three weeks into a 60-day ceasefire agreement with Israel, and beyond its borders, Syria is undergoing a political transition after the fall of the Al-Assad government. While monitoring the outcomes of events in and out of Lebanon, the Philippine Embassy constantly reminds Filipinos in Lebanon to maintain their vigilance and preparedness through various means, such as: ensuring that important documents are ready and up to date; continue monitoring local and international news; maintaining awareness of the proximity, and; staying in touch with the Embassy, Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) in Lebanon.
On 18 December 2024, 28 Filipinos were repatriated from Lebanon. The repatriations are being facilitated by the Philippine Embassy’s Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) Section, the MWO, and OWWA. The Embassy continues to monitor the situation across Lebanon and provides updated advisories to Filipino nationals. The voluntary repatriation program remains open to Filipino nationals who wish to return to the Philippines, accessible through https://tinyurl.com/2024Repatriation. END
