PH Consul General to Xiamen Joins West Fujian Tour, Aims to Further Cooperation with Sanming & Longya

XIAMEN 06 January 2025 – Philippine Consul General to Xiamen Maria Antonina M. Mendoza-Oblena joined a tour of West Fujian for Consulates General in Xiamen. The said tour was organized by the Foreign Affairs Offices of the Fujian Provincial Government and the Xiamen Municipal Government on 18 to 20 December 2024.

Speaking as “Dean of the Consular Corps,” Consul General Mendoza-Oblena expressed the hope that the Philippines and China, the latter through the municipalities of Sanming and Longyan, can cooperate further in the areas of education, trade and investment, health, and rural reforms.  She also mentioned that 2025 will mark the 50th Anniversary of Philippines-China relations and the 30th Anniversary of the establishment of the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen.

The three-day tour included visits to the Shaxian Snacks Cultural Plaza, Folk Museum and Interactive Center; Sangang Group‘s 1958 Industrial Memory Museum, and Wanshouyan National Archaeological Site, all in Sanming; as well as the Guanzhai Mountain Scenic Area, the Memorial hall of the Central Red Transportation Line, the Fujian’s Fulongma Company, and the Tukou Hakka Folk Culture Village, which are all in Longyan.

Officials of the Consulate General of Singapore in Xiamen, the Royal Thai Consulate General in Xiamen, the Foreign Affairs Office of the Xiamen Municipal People’s Government, and the Foreign Affairs Office of the Fujian Provincial People’s Government also participated in the tour. END
