Philippine Ambassador Presents Credentials to Bangladeshi President

DHAKA 31 December 2024 – Philippine Ambassador Nina P. Cainglet presented her Letter of Credence to the President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Mohammed Shahabuddin, during a ceremony on 31 December 2024 in Bangabhaban, the official residence of the President. This marks her accreditation as the Philippines’ Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Bangladesh.

Ambassador Cainglet was welcomed by a ceremonial parade as the Philippine national anthem, Lupang Hinirang, was playing in the background. This was followed by the ceremony for the presentation of credentials, where Ambassador Cainglet presented her Letter of Credence, together with the Letter of Recall of her predecessor, to President Shahabuddin.

In her meeting with President Shahabuddin, Ambassador Cainglet took the opportunity to discuss the bilateral relations between the Philippines and Bangladesh, particularly in key areas of cooperation such as trade and investments, tourism, and consular services. She shared that the Filipinos in Bangladesh are respected and are known to be hardworking.

Ambassador Cainglet also expressed appreciation for the two countries’ strong cooperation in multilateral fora, including support for their candidatures in the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and United Nations Security Council (UNSC), noting that maritime issues, as well as peace and stability, are very important for the Philippines.

In conclusion, Ambassador Cainglet conveyed that the Philippines looks forward to strengthening the country’s bilateral relations with Bangladesh. END
