PH Film Siargao Makes a Splash with Audiences at the Inaugural Asia Pacific Film Festival in Berne

The film attracted many filmgoers in the Swiss capital.

BERNE 07 February 2025 – The Philippine Embassy in Berne presented Siargao, a movie directed by Paul Soriano, as the country’s feature film for the inaugural Asia Pacific Film Festival in Berne.     

The film festival, which is being held at the Quinnie Cineclub Bern from 28 January to 07 February 2025, is an initiative of the Asia Pacific embassies based in the Swiss capital which include the missions of the Philippines, Australia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Pakistan and Thailand. With this event, the embassies hope to bring to Switzerland the diverse stories, landscapes, societies, and cultures of the Asia Pacific through cinema. 

The screening of Siargao on Philippine film night on 04 February 2025 attracted Swiss and other international spectators, including members of the Filipino community, who were also treated to Philippine mango drinks and various dried fruit snacks. In his remarks, Philippine Ambassador to Switzerland Bernard Faustino Dy said that he hopes the film would inspire viewers to travel to the surfing capital of the Philippines, as well as other beach destinations in the country.  

The Philippines’ participation in the film festival was made possible through the support and generosity of the Berne city government, Ten17P productions, ABS-CBN Corporation, the Philippine Department of Tourism Frankfurt Office, and Profoods Philippine Brand. END
