Philippine Embassy in Moscow Holds Film Screening in Observance of the 2025 National Women’s Month and International Women’s Day

MOSCOW 11 March 2025 – The Philippine Embassy held a special screening of the film “Sinandomeng” on 09 March 2025 in observance of the 2025 National Women’s Month and International Women’s Day. The film is about a widowed housewife who took on the responsibility of tilling and cultivating their farmland herself after her husband’s death. The heroine showed resolution, diligence, resilience, and empowerment in the face of adversity and challenges, traits that harken to the life and trials of many of our women Overseas Filipinos.

In her remarks, Deputy Chief of Mission and Consul General Lorenza Arlene Gonzales-Macaisa highlighted this year’s Women’s Month Celebration sub-theme, “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas,” which highlights the core objectives of the Magna Carta of Women on women empowerment, gender equality, and equitable access to resources and opportunities.

70 members of the Filipino community and Embassy personnel attended the film screening, most of whom were women. The film was positively received by the audience, who expressed their appreciation for the Embassy’s initiatives in organizing activities which celebrate women’s contribution to society.

In addition, the Philippine Embassy joins the Philippine Commission on Women in calling for a “Purple Wednesday” to support women’s rights and gender equality. END
