HONG KONG 21 March 2025 — The Philippines presented artistic excellence in floral presentation and artistic landscaping at the 2025 Hong Kong Flower Show from 14 to 23 March 2025 at Victoria Park, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong Island. The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong and two other Philippine organizations, the World Flower Council (Philippines Chapter) and the Blue Grass Project Philippines, participated in the highly-anticipated flagship event.

The Philippine Consulate General, returning from its one-year hiatus in joining the show, staged a victorious comeback in collaboration with the United Architects of the Philippines-Hong Kong Chapter by winning the “Merit Award for Unique Feature.” The display was inspired by the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Philippines-China Diplomatic Relations. The design showcased a replica of the “Balangay” representing the Philippines alongside the Chinese “Junk (船),” which can be seen in Victoria Harbour, Hong Kong.

These two icons of cultural heritage, respectively representing the Philippines and Hong Kong SAR, were melded together to create a uniquely meaningful design that symbolizes mutual resilience and cultural heritage, presented above a bed of aureate-hued blooms representing the golden friendship between the Philippines and Hong Kong SAR. The flowers featured at the Philippines’ display included the “Everlasting” flowers, popular and abundant in Baguio City; the “Cosmos,” this year’s theme flower for the show; along with other flower varieties such as the “Aster,” “Chrysanthemums,” “Begonia,” “Million Bells,” “Kalanchoe,” “Daisies” and a  bonsai tree.

The Philippines was able to further show its talents and creativity throughout the show, particularly through the “Merit Award for Design Excellence” which was received by Blue Grass Project Philippines.

Furthermore, the Overseas Filipino Community in Hong Kong staged an hour-long cultural performance on 16 March 2025. The international audience were treated to a lively rendition of various Philippine folk dances including “Binasuan”, “Subli”, “Itik-Itik”, “La Jota Moncadeña”, and “Tinikling” as well as Festival Street dances namely “Mammangi” and “Dinagyang” Festivals during the cultural presentation led by the Tinikling Group of Migrants, One Visayas Hong Kong, Dynamic Overseas Migrant Organization Hong Kong and Ilagan City Migrants Alliance.

The Hong Kong Flower Show is an annual event organized by the Hong Kong Leisure and Cultural Services Department and is estimated to draw around 650,000 visitors. Under the theme, “Ablaze with Glory,” the event features over 400,000 flowers displayed by 238 organizations, including 81 exhibitors from eleven countries. END
