PH Embassy Highlights Legal Victory in South China Sea at Webster University

VIENNA 26 March 2025 – Highlighting the Philippines’ commitment to international law and peaceful dispute resolution, the Philippine Embassy in Vienna, through Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Zoilo A. Velasco, engaged students and faculty at Webster Vienna Private University in a discussion on the 2016 South China Sea Arbitral Award on 21 March 2025. CDA Velasco outlined the country’s maritime entitlements under UNCLOS, the significance of the arbitral ruling and its broader implications to the rules-based international order. Organized by the university’s Global Business Law Forum, the event provided a platform to convey the Philippines’ position and its continued efforts to uphold its sovereign rights in the West Philippine Sea.
