23 July 2014 – In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Maldives, Non-Resident Philippine Ambassador to Maldives Vicente Vivencio T. Bandillo made a special visit to the country and called on Maldives Foreign Secretary Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on July 13.
At the meeting, both exchanged greetings of felicitation on the 40 years of strong bilateral relations between their two countries. They also discussed on proposals on expanding Philippine-Maldives cooperation in the fields of medicine and sports and the agreement on transfer of sentenced persons.
In remembrance of the memorable occasion, Ambassador Bandillo handed over an oil painting of a stylized rendition of a carabao made by a Filipino artist while Foreign Secretary Mohamed presented him with a miniature dhoni, the traditional fishing boat of Maldives.
