PH Embassy, Romania Chamber of Commerce Link Up to Strengthen Bilateral Trade Connections
BUCHAREST 10 April 2025 — Philippine Ambassador to Romania Ambassador Noel Servigon met with Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIR) President Mr. Mihai Daraban on 07 April 2025.
During the introductory meeting, the two officials discussed the current bilateral economic relations between the Philippines and Romania. The two also affirmed commitment to find ways to unlock and maximize the trade and investment potential between the two countries.
The Ambassador also voiced his recognition of the CCIR’s major role in boosting greater cross-border exchange of goods as well as investments between the two countries, and expressed his hope for greater business contacts between Philippine and Romanian commercial entities.
Towards this, the Ambassador and the CCIR President agreed to work together to assemble business missions and trade delegation visits in the coming months and years.
Moreover, the two sides agreed to explore the viability of the use of the Port of Constanţa as an alternative gateway for Europe-bound Philippine exports of goods and commodities to reduce travel time and logistics costs.
Ambassador Servigon also sought the help of the CCIR in looking for suitable candidates for the position of Philippine Honorary Consul in Constanţa to help the Embassy attend to the consular and assistance-to-nationals needs of Filipino seafarers manning ships that regularly dock in the Port of of Constanţa, and support in the Embassy’s economic diplomacy programs.
The CCIR is the biggest business organization in Romania, bringing together 42 county chambers of commerce and industry. END
