Air Canada Launches Inaugural Direct Flight from Vancouver to Manila

VANCOUVER 10 April 2025 – In cooperation with the Philippine Department of Tourism (PDOT), San Francisco, USA, Philippine Consul General in Vancouver Gina A. Jamoralin represented the Philippines in the Launch of Air Canada's inaugural direct flight between Vancouver and Canada on 01 April 2024 at the Vancouver International Airport.

The event was attended by Vancouver City Councilor Mike Klassen, CEO of the Asia Pacific Foundation, Mr. Jeff Nankivell, Mr. Alec Guerin of the Musqueam Nation, YVR Airport VP for External Affairs, Mr. Mike McNaney, and Air Canada Managing Officer, Mr. Tim Liu.

Consul General Jamoralin, in her remarks, highlighted that this new non-stop, year-round service between Vancouver International Airport and Manila's Ninoy Aquino International Airport is more than just a new route but more importantly serves as a bridge across the Pacific, connecting not only two major cities, but also two vibrant and deeply international nations. She further added that this is a welcome development in aviation partnership as this direct flight will not only boost tourism between the two countries, making it more convenient for Canadians to explore the Philippines world-class destinations but also support business and trade opportunities, encourage greater economic exchange and investment between the two countries.

Air Canada is Canada's largest airline, the country's flag carrier and a founding member of Star Alliance, the world's most comprehensive air transportation network. Air Canada provides scheduled service directly to more than 180 airports in Canada, the United States and internationally on six continents.

About 100 people attended the event covered by OMNI TV.  Two (2) local Filipino restaurants Hapag Ihaw-Ihaw and Kulinarya provided refreshments featuring well-loved Filipino food such as adobo, ginataang kalabasa, lumpiang gulay and lumpiang shanghai and lechon.  For dessert, Goldilocks featured a cake in the shape of a Filipino jeepney.
