Filipino Dishes Featured in Romanian Television in Celebration of the Filipino Food Month

BUCHAREST 30 April 2025 — The Philippine Embassy in Bucharest, through the cooperation of A7TV, a television station owned by Mr. Simon Andreas Maurer, Philippine Honorary Consul in Braşov, Romania, featured Filipino cuisine in celebration of the Filipino Food Month in April.

The special feature is titled “Filipine. Mii de insule. Un singur gust: autentic.” (translation: The Philippines. Thousands of Islands, One taste: authentic) aired on A7TV on 27 April 2025, and it featured selected dishes from the following establishments in Bucharest and Braşov:

  1. Sam’s Fusion Cuisine - a restaurant owned by a Filipino-Romanian couple Mr. Johnasis Samlero and Ms. Iuliana Miharla Samlero that offers Filipino and international dishes. For the feature, Mr. Samlero made tapsilog.
  2. Kabayan - a small restaurant in the center of the city, the Filipino co-owners Ms. Juana Percial and Ms. Josephine Napicog, with their cook Mr. Richard Rancudo showcased three (3) dishes, namely chicken sisig, sweet and sour fish, and halo-halo. 
  3. MaPa - A food truck owned by Filipino couple James and Elbeth Tumbado, who cooked chicken inasal. 
  4. Limon Restaurant - A restaurant in Braşov owned by Mr. Maurer. Chef Liviu Preda prepared beef asado with a Romanian twist. 
  5. Teleferic Hotel - A hotel situated in Braşov where a number of Filipinos are employed. Teleferic Hotel has developed its own Filipino menu, which is available all year-round. For the special, the Filipino chefs made bistek tagalog.

A7 also visited the official residence, where Mrs. Marichu Servigon held a cooking demonstration of molo soup. Ambassador Noel Servigon was also interviewed about the reopening of the embassy and about the Filipino community in Romania.
