PH Consulate General in Jeddah Inspects Hajj Sites to Ensure Filipino Pilgrims’ Safety

JEDDAH 16 May 2025 – In a meaningful step to support Filipino pilgrims during this year’s Hajj, the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah’s Hajj Team and the National Commission on Muslim Filipino (NCMF) conducted an on-site visit to the Mina and Arafat pilgrimage sites in Makkah, Saudi Arabia and carefully reviewed the facilities and arrangements dedicated to Filipino pilgrims.
The team is composed of Consul General Rommel Romato, Vice Consul Kristal Mary Padon-Rabanal, National Commission on Muslim Filipino (NCMF) Hajj Attaché OIC Omar Mandia, and the Consulate’s Hajj Team, together with Mr. Mazen Derar of MCDC.
The site visit was the first inspection conducted in recent years led by a Philippine Consul General in Jeddah. It underscores the Philippine Government’s commitment to safeguarding the welfare, comfort, and safety of its citizens as they embark on this deeply spiritual journey. Consul General Romato also engaged with Saudi authorities to ensure the Philippine Hajj Mission's continuous access to Filipino pilgrims throughout the Hajj season, enabling prompt assistance should emergencies arise.
With around 1.8 million pilgrims expected worldwide, including 5,000 from the Philippines, this collaboration between the Philippines and Saudi Arabia aims to enhance the overall Hajj experience for Filipino pilgrims, reflecting a shared dedication to their well-being.
The Philippine Government, represented by the NCMF, the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh, and the Consulate General in Jeddah, remains steadfast in its mission to serve and support Filipino pilgrims during this Hajj season. END
