Philippine Ambassador Presents Credentials to Sri Lankan President, Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthen Bilateral Relations

Philippine Ambassador Nina P. Cainglet presents her credentials to Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake

 

DHAKA 26 May 2025 — Ambassador Nina P. Cainglet, Non-Resident Ambassador of the Philippines to Sri Lanka, presented her credentials last 15 May to His Excellency Anura Kumara Dissanayake, President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo.

In a reception that followed, Ambassador Cainglet acknowledged the warm relations between the Philippines and Sri Lanka and looked forward to the celebration of the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations in January 2026.

Ambassador Cainglet also had the opportunity to meet His Excellency Vijitha Herath, Foreign Minister, and Her Excellency Aruni Ranaraja, Foreign Secretary, and discussed Sri Lanka’s hosting of the third political consultations this year, existing and pending bilateral agreements, and the importance of Sri Lanka – then known as Ceylon – to the journey of the Philippines’ national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal.

In closing, Ambassador Cainglet conveyed gratitude to the Sri Lankan government for the kind assistance it extends to Filipino workers in the country. END
