Philippines Showcases Crime Prevention Efforts at CCPCJ34
Vice Chair and Executive Officer Rafael Calinisan of the National Police Commission delivers the Philippine national statement at CCPCJ34
VIENNA 02 June 2025 — The Philippines highlighted its crime prevention efforts at the 34th Session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ34) of the United Nations, which met from 19 to 23 May 2025.
“We are pleased to share that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has approved the 2025 National Crime Prevention Program, a strategic plan aligned with our Philippine Development Plan and national security goals. It reflects our commitment to building a safer, rules-based society through a whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach,” said Vice Chair and Executive Officer Rafael Calinisan of the National Police Commission who delivered the Philippine statement at the CCPCJ34 General Debate.
CCPCJ acts as the principal policymaking body of the United Nations in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice.
The Philippines also called on countries to strengthen international cooperation to address the root causes of online sexual abuse or exploitation of children, including identifying perpetrator hotspots. Vice Chair Calinisan also emphasized the country’s ongoing commitment against illicit money and its successful exit from the grey list of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
At the Commission’s Plenary, the Philippines highlighted its ongoing cooperation with UNODC on counter-terrorism and preventing violent extremism, particularly against the recruitment of children for terrorist activities. END
