Philippine Ambassador Presents Credentials to Sri Lankan President, Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthening Bilateral Relations
Philippine Ambassador Nina P. Cainglet presents her credentials to Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake
COLOMBO 03 June 2025 — Philippine Non-Resident Ambassador to Sri Lanka Nina P. Cainglet presented her credentials to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on 15 May 2025 at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo.
In a reception that followed, Ambassador Cainglet acknowledged the warm relations between the Philippines and Sri Lanka and looked forward to the celebration of the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations in January 2026.
Ambassador Cainglet also had the opportunity to meet Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath and Foreign Secretary Aruni Ranaraja and discussed Sri Lanka’s hosting of the third political consultations this year, existing and pending bilateral agreements, and the importance of Sri Lanka – then Ceylon – to the journey of the Philippines’ national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal.
In closing, Ambassador Cainglet conveyed gratitude to the Sri Lankan government for the kind assistance it extends to Filipino workers in the country. END
