SINGAPORE 18 June 2025 — The Philippine Embassy in Singapore and the Philippine Bayanihan Society of Singapore (PBSS) renewed their Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on 17 June 2025, reaffirming their partnership to sustain the operations of the Bayanihan Centre. First signed in 2024, the MOA provides for quarterly donations from the Philippine Government to support the upkeep and programming of the Centre. This year’s renewal was marked by a simple ceremony attended by Embassy officials and PBSS representatives.

Before the signing ceremony, Atty. Ranvir Kumar Singh, PBSS Honorary President, presented the Centre’s accomplishments for 2024 and its Work Plan for 2025, in keeping with the terms of the MOA signed last year. His presentation highlighted the various programs and initiatives carried out at the Centre, and PBSS’s implementation of its mandate.

Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Medardo G. Macaraig and Atty. Singh signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions. In his remarks, Ambassador Macaraig challenged the Embassy, the PBSS, and its stakeholders to work towards a clear roadmap for the Bayanihan Centre’s development over the next 10 to 20 years. He emphasized that the Bayanihan Centre’s vision offers wide latitude and that much more could be done to fully harness its potential, particularly in promoting Filipino culture and fostering deeper engagements with Singaporean institutions and stakeholders.

The Bayanihan Centre continues to serve as a vital venue for programs and activities that promote skills development, cultural engagement, and community building among overseas Filipinos.

The signing of the agreement underscores the shared commitment of both parties to ensure that the Centre continues to serve as a vital hub for service, support, and empowerment of Filipinos in Singapore.

The Embassy looks forward to working closely with PBSS in translating the provisions of the MOA into meaningful programs that benefit Filipino workers and residents in Singapore. END
